2018 was an exciting year for agriculture and farming in India and also for the Green Innovation Centre project. One of the highlights was the piloting of the Smart Farming App to deliver real-time advice to farmers on potato cultivation. read more about this in the news letter.

New customer: The Rainforest Alliance
The Rainforest Alliance has given an assignment to SmartFarming to develop a training app for coffee farmers in India. The Rainforest Alliance is known for its UTZ- and Rainforest Alliance logo on coffee, cocoa, tea and banana products and the Follow the Frog campaign.
Co-creation potato app started
In the second half of May, the SmartFarming team, with the great support of ETC field staff, organized a round of meetings and workshops in two regions in India.
Promotion cotton app in Aurangabad and Jalna
The SmartFarming cotton app is in its first full year of usage. The dashboard shows the app has a solid base in the region where we co-created the app in 2016 and 2017: the Akola district in Maharashtra.

The cotton season in India is about to start. To support farmers from day 1 this season, the SmartFarming cotton app has been updated.
Development of Android based offline potato production app for India
SmartFarming will develop a smartphone application (‘app’) for potato farmers in India. GIZ through AFC International and ETC Consultants India have commissioned the work.
