Cotton app reached 1400 farmers in its first month
The recent launched smartphone application (‘app’) to support cotton farmers is already used by 1400 farmers in India. The app was not heavily promoted by the developers but passed on from farmer to farmer via social media.
Cotton app for Indian farmers released
On June 16, the first practical smartphone application (‘app’) that focuses on prevention of pests and local solutions in cotton farming has been released. The app has been co-developed with cotton farmers and companies in Maharashtra and is available in Marathi, Hindi and English.
Webinar about new cotton app
SmartFarming will organise 45 minutes webinars to introduce the new SmartFarming smartphone application (‘app’) for Indian cotton farmers. The webinar is especially useful for agronomists and field staff management that are working in the Indian cotton sector to explore if this innovative tool can support their projects.
Programming of cotton app 2017 started
Last week, the development of the cotton app 2017 entered a new phase: programming. After months or preparing the content and the architecture, the programming team in Pune, India, started the actual building of the smartphone application.

Encouraging results field test
We finalized the field test of the pilot version of the SmartFarming cotton app. Jelle spent four months in Akola, India to carry out workshops and interviews with cotton farmers. The field test was held in cooperation with Arvind Agri.

Pilot version launched
An excited time starts now. The pilot version of the Smartfarming app went live in the Google Play Store yesterday.
